The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court earlier this week.
FRESHBROOK: Chanel Baker, of Cottington Close, has been sentenced for criminal damage and causing actual bodily harm.
The 20-year-old pleaded guilty to damaging a man’s jumper on February 9, 2024, and indicated a plea of guilty to assaulting the same man on the same date.
She received a community order that requires her to attend up to 20 rehabilitation activity days, and pay a £70 fine as well as £85 in court costs.
WALCOT: Tyron Harman, of Tudor Walk, has been sentenced for burglary and theft.
The 37-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to entering a Little Walcot Lane property as a trespasser on May 26, 2024 and stealing a coffee table and print worth £200.
He received a six-month prison sentence that has been suspended for 12 months, and must pay £500 in compensation.
BLUNSDON: Daniel O’Donoghue, of Fortuna Road, has been sentenced for theft from a shop.
The 42-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to taking a massage gun worth £134 from the Currys in Swindon on May 18, 2024.
He must pay a fine of £120 and £85 in court costs.
TOWN CENTRE: Danny Stockwell, of Elmina Road, has been sentenced for possession of Class B drugs and a driving offence.
The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to having cannabis on him and driving a BMW along Cirencester Way without insurance on April 11, 2024.
He has been fined £161 and given six penalty points on his driving licence and also ordered to pay £85 in court costs and £64 to fund victim services.
He did not receive a driving ban because, court records note, he would not be able to continue his business if disqualified and this could cause financial hardship for him, his children, and his two employees.
The illegal substance has been forfeited and destroyed.
WALCOT: Sasha McGailey, of Welbeck Close in Walcot, has been sentenced for harassment without violence.
The 36-year-old pleaded guilty to sending two public Facebook messages and one private message accusing him of having a sexual interest in children on January 24, 2024.
She must pay £50 in compensation along with a £200 fine as well as £85 in court costs.
WALCOT: Kerry Duggan, of Somerville Road, has been sentenced for two offences.
The 37-year-old pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause a woman alarm or distress on April 30, 2024, and failing to surrender to custody at Swindon Magistrates Court on July 24, 2024, having been released on bail in criminal proceedings on July 8, 2024, at Gablecross police station.
She must pay £100 compensation to her victim along with a fine of £120 and £85 in court costs.
WILTSHIRE: James Connolly, of Red Lane in Mildenham, has been sentenced for drink driving.
The 65-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Citroen Berlingo along the A346 Salisbury Road on June 23, 2024, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, namely 107 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.
He received a 24-month driving ban and must pay a £200 fine plus £85 in court costs and £80 to fund victim services.
WILTSHIRE: Stephen Ashman, of Highfield in Bromham, has been sentenced for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause two people alarm or distress.
The 64-year-old pleaded not guilty but was later found guilty of causing a woman and a man in Bromham distress on July 5, 2023.
He received a community order that requires him to carry out up to 20 rehabilitation activity days as well as pay a fine of £145 plus £620 in court costs and £114 to fund victim services.
