A man is fighting for his life in hospital after a crash involving a moped near Swindon town centre.
Wiltshire Police responded to a report of a collision between a dark-coloured moped and a parked car at around 12:30am on Thursday, August 1 in Butterworth Street.
The man, in his 50s, suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and he is receiving treatment in hospital.
Officers say their enquiries into the incident are still ongoing, but they have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to police contact with the moped rider prior to the incident.
They ask any witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the moped riding in the Faringdon Road or Park Lane areas to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 8 of August 1.
Alternatively, they can contact the team directly at SCIT@wiltshire.police.uk
