A family football attraction in Swindon town centre has closed for good after the unit was repossessed by its landlord.

When news of Football Fiesta's impending closure broke last month, its manager said that there was a chance that it might be able to stay open if members of the public turned up in the final few weeks.

But that will not be happening as the unit has been taken back by the landlords of the Brunel Shopping Centre, FI Real Estate.

The venue had only opened in December last year as a pop-up, before fully opening in the new year this year, so had only lasted a number of months before its closure.

When the Swindon venue opened, a venue in Cardiff was just closing. The company now only has one venue left in Watford, even though Swindon is still listed on its website.

The notice on the door of the unit, located in the Crossing, within Brunel Shopping Centre, said: "To Football Fiesta Limited and any others to whom it may concern.

"Take notice that Brunel Trustee (Jersey) Ltd ("the Landlord") has today re-entered and secured vacant possession of the property situated at and known as 19 Canal Walk, 1st and 2nd floor, Brunel Shopping Centre, 29A The Plaza, Swindon, SN1 1LF ("The property") by changing the locks and therefore forfeiting the lease and determining any interest you have in the Property.

It adds that unless an application is made within 14 days of the notice being issued, which was July 23, Brunel will sell or dispose of any items left in the property.

This follows news of the business struggling, with a member of staff seeking help on social media to try and save it.

He said: "Hello guys, I work at Football Fiesta in the Brunel and just a quick message to say unfortunately we will be closing for good on July 21 so if you have children or grandchildren that are interested in football, get down there on the weekend and have a brilliant time before we close!

Centre Manager Andrew Ealy told the Adver when contacted: "The numbers aren’t going as well as we expected so we made the decision to close and give it two weekends.

"We're going to give it two weekends to get numbers through the door and if we do then we may be able to keep it open."

He added: "But if not, we'll have no choice but to close, and that would be a real shame."
