Two Swindon Town fans will be watching the club's first game of the season against Chesterfield - but how they are getting there is quite extraordinary.

Best friends Innes Miles and Jordan Brooks have set themselves a challenge to walk to Chesterfield ahead of Town's opening League Two fixture against the newly-promoted Spireites on Friday (August 9).

They set off from the County Ground on the morning of August 2 to a wall of applause and plan to walk 20 miles a day until they reach their destination at Chesterfield a week later in time for the game.

Raising money for charity through a GoFundMe, the pair have vowed to raise money for two charities close to their hearts.

Innes explained how both himself and Jordan have both lost loved ones to Alzheimer's - including his dad - and that raising money for the Alzheimer's Society to support the work they do across the UK in support and research of dementia.

In addition to raising money for Alzheimer's, the duo have both decided that they will also raise money for the National Autistic Society, a charity that helps raise awareness and champion the rights and interests of autistic people and their families, making sure national policy and legislation reflect their needs.

Jordan explained his son and Innes' grandchild both have autism, so it made picking the charities they'd like to raise money for much easier.

So far the pair have raised £2,795 out of their £3,000 target and their GoFundMe page can be found here - https://gofund.me/66eeeba2.

Innes said in the GoFundMe: "Jordan and I discussed challenging ourselves one night (after a few drinks...)

"After a while Jordan came up with the idea to walk from Swindon Town to our first away fixture of the season!

"We both agreed and eagerly awaited the fixtures coming out - so we are walking 140 miles to Chesterfield FC."

The club has backed the two fans, with fan engagement officer Vicki Eyles explaining why.

"Innes and Jordan contacted myself and the club by email and as a club, we wanted to support their fundraiser and particularly the work both the Alzheimers and National Autistic Society does across the UK," she said.

"They've both set themselves a target to raise £2,000 for charity in what will be a tough challenge and I'm sure members of our supporters will really get behind the pair as they embark on a 140-mile walk to Chesterfield to watch Town on Friday August 9."

Town's game against Chesterfield will be shown live on Sky Sports (8pm).
