Swindon is among the cheapest places for a night out in all the UK, according to a study.
The study measured multiple night out-related costs across multiple towns and cities, and Swindon came out fourth cheapest.
The study by Casino.org measured the price of pints, a McDonald’s meal, transport and accommodation, giving the Town a total cost of £101 as of July this year.
Nearby Oxford saw the largest increase in the cost of a night out, rising by 127.6% over the last two years.
The cheapest place fro a night out according to the research is Bradford with an overall cost of just £94 - £52 below the UK average.
The cost of a night out in the UK has shot up over the past two years, rising from an average of £121 in 2022 to £146 this year, an increase of 20.4 per cent.
The company says: “The biggest culprit for this price increase is hotels, with prices rising by nearly a quarter for a single weekend night’s stay.”
However, local pubs have reported that less people are willing to go out for drinks as they tighten their belts post-Covid.
One Swindon pub landlord at the New Inn says he has noticed a behavioural change which has led to drop in business, and could in turn lead to price hikes.
