Thousands have been raised for the funeral of a young man from Swindon who died unexpectedly in his home.

Emergency services were called to a property on Station Road, Highworth, on July 28 where a man in his 20s was found dead.

That man has now been identified as 21-year-old Callum Lewis Coombley and a fundraising page has been set up by his loved ones to help pay for his funeral.

Wanessa Erber, who set up the page on behalf of Callum's family, said they had been 'devastated with his passing'.

She said: "Callum tragically passed away at the age of 21 on July 28 which has left a huge hole in his family's and friend's hearts.

"He was a young, fun and loving boy who always had a cheeky smile on his face and was loved by so many."

She added: "Any donations big or small are hugely appreciated at this difficult time. The funds raised will be used to cover the cost of the funeral to give Callum the send-off he deserves.

At the time of writing, the fundraising page has raised just under £4000 smashing its £1000 target.

His parents, Samantha and Liam, said: "Callum was a massive football fan supporting Manchester City, as a child he spent many years playing for Stratton Juniors before moving to Northside and later Kingsdown.

"He was a popular boy who always had a cheeky smile on his face.

"There was a minute silence at the market in Highworth on Saturday and also at Highworth Football Club before their game.

"Stratton Juniors are also undertaking a one-minute applause on their first games of the season in Callum’s memory."

Dad Liam added: "Thank you so much, the generosity and kindness you have all shown is very overwhelming and me and Callum’s mum Sam are so grateful to every single one of you."

A spokesperson for Stratton Juniors said: "We are devastated to learn the sad news that one of our previous youth players has sadly passed away.

"Callum Coombley was part of our set-up being coached by Paul Surridge, Kevin Walklett & Liam Coombley and was such a happy and brilliant young man.

"At Stratton Juniors we send our condolences and wishes to all his family and friends, and know if you need any support please get in touch.

"In memory of Callum, we are asking all our teams to observe a minute applause on the opening weekend of the Youth season, Sunday, September 8.

"Forever a Stratton Junior family member

"RIP Callum"

Police and paramedics attended Callum's home on Station Road for several hours on the Sunday after being called at around 9.30am.

The emergency service presence remained for some time, with two police patrol cars, two crime scene investigation vans, a scientific investigation van, and a private ambulance still at the scene at 5pm.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson has confirmed that enquiries into what happened to Callum are ongoing.

They said: "At approximately 9.30am, officers were called to an address in Swindon Road, Highworth, following the death of a man in his 20s.

"His family has been informed and our thoughts are with them.

"The investigation is at the very early stages and the death is currently being treated as unexplained. Enquiries continue."

Callum's grandad Paul Lewis did make a post on a Highworth Community page, which said: "My lovely grandson had an asthma attack today, was complaining of breathing last three days and passed away."
