Temperatures in Wiltshire could reach close to 30 degrees this weekend and it's all thanks to tropical Storm Debby.

Although Wiltshire is hundreds of miles away from the typically sunny Florida, the upcoming high temperatures that have been predicted in Wiltshire will likely be influenced by the USA.

Storm Debby, which was first classed as a Category 1 hurricane before weakening to a tropical storm, hit Florida hard on Monday, August 5, with heavy rain and high winds.

By Tuesday, August 6, the storm had killed six people and caused serious flooding in the US.

Although the American storm won't hit UK shores, experts at the Met Office say it will likely have a direct impact on UK temperatures, pushing a jet stream directly towards us.

As a result, the country will see some of the highest temperatures of the year so far, with Wiltshire set to reach close to 30 degrees.

"Debby in North America will help to strengthen and veer the direction of the jet stream and this means this ribbon of air is likely to shift further to the south," explained Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Nick Silkstone.

"This southwards dip in the jet stream will likely be located across the mid-Atlantic this weekend and early next week, allowing southwesterly flow across the UK.

"During this time a hot and perhaps very hot airmass could develop and be advected into the southeast of the UK."

So here's how the weather forecast is looking in Wiltshire heading into the weekend.
