A teenage dancer from Wiltshire is celebrating after winning gold at the Dance World Cup.
Amelia, 15, who attends Lawn Manor Academy in Swindon, spent weeks preparing as she took to the stage representing Team England at the Dance World Cup.
The competition which was held in Prague this year is the Olympics of the dance world.
Amelia, who trains with The Kirsty Farrow Dance Academy in Swindon, went up against 65 other countries and took home the gold medal.
The teenager competed in two separate dance styles, performing a traditional Turkish dance and also partaking in a musical theatre group number.
“It was a real honour to go to Prague and take part in the Dance World Cup, especially taking one of the leading roles in our musical theatre performance," said Amelia.
“We rehearsed for weeks ahead of the competition and we spent two weeks in Prague competing. It was a great opportunity."
Not only was Amelia celebrating her own huge success, but she also helped Team England bring home first place overall.
Abby Lee Miller, who is known globally for her appearance on the reality show Dance Moms which brought stars such as Maddie Ziegler to fame, was also attending the event and stopped for a quick selfie with the Swindon medallist.
Amelia got the opportunity to ask the dance instructor questions, as well as take part in a choreography class with award-winning choreographer Dane Bates.
The teen went on to compete with her tap dance group in the All England Dance Grand Finals in Wolverhampton, not long after returning home.
"I really love how dance can help me show and understand my emotions," she added.
"It helps especially at school as my teacher, Miss Dixon, will often encourage me to improv through dance when I’m struggling and it helps me deal with how I’m feeling."
Natasha Dixon, head of dance at Lawn Manor Academy, added: “Amelia’s dancing is astounding and we’re very proud of her competing at such a competitive international level.
"We can’t wait to hear all about it when she’s back at school in September.”
