A driver who has never passed a driving test was caught behind the wheel in Swindon.
To make matters worse, they were also on the phone and had already been disqualified from driving.
Officers from Wiltshire Police's Roads Policing Unit (RPU) were patrolling the town in an unmarked police car on Thursday, August 8, when they spotted the driver of a Hyundai on their phone.
They pulled the driver over in a residential street and discovered that they had already been disqualified from driving, despite never passing their test.
As a result, police decided to take the car from the individual by legally seizing it and reported the driver to court.
The incident was posted on the Wiltshire Specialist Operations Twitter/X page, which provides updates on the comings and goings of the county's RPU.
The full post said: "RPU noticed this driver using his mobile phone at the wheel in Swindon. Driver has never passed a test and has even managed to achieve disqualified status on his ghost licence. Vehicle seized and driver reported to court."
Members of the public reacted strongly to the thought of completely unlicensed drivers on the town's roads.
One said: "How many more like this on our roads? It's an endless task for you guys. Well done."
Another said: "And these 'people' walk amongst us.... well they do now - thanks to you!"
