The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates' Court this month.
SWINDON: Three men have been sentenced for stealing food worth £1,196.48 from a Swindon Lidl on July 25, 2024.
49-year-old Claudiu Balog and 34-year-old Costel Nedlecu, of High Street in Banbury, and X-year-old 32-year-old Marius Nedelcu, of Hearthway in Banbury, indicated pleas of guilty to one count each of theft from a shop.
They received a community order that requires them to carry out unpaid work in the next 12 months - 40 hours for Balog and 50 each for the Nedelcus - along with £85 in court costs plus £114 to fund victim services per person.
TOWN CENTRE: Vasile Gosu, of Havelock Street, has been sentenced for assault by beating.
The 48-year-old pleaded guilty to hitting a woman in Swindon on April 27, 2024.
He must pay a fine of £646 as well as £85 in court costs plus £258 to fund victim services.
KINGSHILL: Michael McDonagh, of William Street, has been sentenced for vehicle interference.
The 46-year-old pleaded guilty to five counts of the offence - interfering with a Skoda, a Toyota and two BMW, and on July 15, 2024, as well as a Renault on May 24, 2024, with the intention that offences of theft of the said motor vehicles or part of them or of anything carried in or on them should be committed.
The defendant also indicated a plea of guilty to stealing alcohol worth £150.75 from B&M Bargains in Swindon on July 24, 2024.
He has been jailed for 12 weeks due to the seriousness of the offences and his record of similar offending.
MOTORWAY: James Clark, of Pegasus Road in Farnborough, has been sentenced for drink driving.
The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Transit along the M4 near Swindon on July 22, 2024, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath namely 75 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.
He has been banned from driving for 20 months, fined £120, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £48 to fund victim services.
PINEHURST: Michelle Robertson, of Medlar Court, has been sentenced for assault by beating.
The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to hitting a man in Swindon on July 22, 2024.
She must pay a fine of £120 as well as £85 in court costs and £48 to fund victim services.
SWINDON: Charles Da Costa, of Dryden Street, has been sentenced for driving whilst unfit through drink.
The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Focus along Red Barn Lane in Wroughton while inebriated on July 25, 2024.
MARLBOROUGH: James Radley, of The Thorns, has been sentenced for drug driving.
The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Seat Leon along Newby Acre on February 7, 2024, when the proportion of a controlled drug, namely Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, in his blood, namely not less than 7.3 micrograms of drug per litre of blood, exceeded the specified limit.
He has been banned from driving for 12 months, fined £350, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £140 to fund victim services.
TOWN CENTRE: Mark Stafford, of Queens Drive, has been sentenced for remaining on premises in contravention of a closure order.
The 57-year-old pleaded guilty to staying at an address on Offerton Road on June 27, 2024, when a court order issued on May 9, 2024, prevented him from doing so.
He must pay a fine of £40 plus £16 to fund victim services.
He received a 12-month driving ban and must pay a £400 fine as well as £85 in court costs and £160 to fund victim services.
