A councillor is concerned about unclear rules at a car park which recently introduced an ANPR system.
Cllr Vijay Manro worries residents could suffer due to a lack of clarity by Euro Car Parks at the Highworth Co-op car park.
Recently erected signs saying that “customers of Co-op are welcome to park here for a maximum of 90 minutes”.
The rules state that cars cannot return within two hours, but Cllr Vijay wonders: “Family members may use one car and go shopping separately.”
Furthermore, many residents use the car park for other nearby amenities, such as the library and ATM, and so he says drivers could return to the car park multiple times in one day.
He said: “It’s the clarification that is not happening.
“People park there to go to the library and ATM, and yet the signs say it is for customers only. What happens when the store is closed, can residents park there?
“I was hoping that Co-Op management would have made comments to assure the community about the enforcement and what constitute breach of conditions.”
The car park is monitored by a camera which records the number plates of entering and exiting vehicles.
Midcounties Co-op and Euro Car Parks were contacted but failed to comment for clarification.
