Life imitated art in Wiltshire over the weekend as a police callout recreated a memorable moment from Hot Fuzz.
On Sunday, officers responded to reports from the A350 of a swan wandering onto the busy main road, causing problems for drivers and interrupting the flow of traffic.
At around 9pm, members of the Roads Policing Unit team assisted colleagues from the Armed Response Group in moving the big bird out of harm's way.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "The swan is now safely off of the road" and added the hashtages #JustTheOneSwanActually and #NotJustTickets.
The spokesperson also tagged the Sandford Police parody account in their social media post and asked "Is this one of your swans? Can you come and collect it please?"
Sandford is the fictional village from Simon Pegg and Nick Frost action comedy Hot Fuzz, where their characters Nicholas Angel and Danny Butterman team up to investigate a spate of mysterious deaths.
A running joke throughout the film is the officers being asked if they have had any luck catching swans that are on the loose - though in fact, as the cops correct, it is just the one swan that is missing.
Said waterfowl appears during the action-packed climax and helps stop the criminal culprit.
