A 1970s Marvel comic has sold for hundreds of pounds at a Cotswold auction.

The comic, 'Werewolf by Night' from 1975 featuring the first appearance of the character Moon Knight, fetched £370 in an online sale of comics and horror collectables.

The Cotswold Auction Company also sold a Yamaha baritone saxophone for £2,500 after giving it an estimate of £700 to £1,000.

A Yamaha tenor saxophone finished with a price tag of £900 on an estimate of £500 to £800.

Other sales included a British Rail 'Chacewater' enamel sign going for £1,250 and a set of 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy from 1955 fetching £1,500.

Auctioneer and company director, Liz Poole, said: “The saxophones proved particularly popular this time, as did railway memorabilia and model trains."

A mid-century British Rail ‘Truro’ enamel sign went for £950, while a maroon Hornby ‘Princess Elizabeth’ loco drew a price of £800.

Other top sellers included an Abraham Ortelius framed and glazed map of China, first published in 1584, which sold for £850.

The auction took place at The Cotswold Auction Company’s Love Lane saleroom in Cirencester on July 30 and July 31.
