A brawl in Swindon two days before Christmas saw one man wielding a 'chair leg' as a weapon.

Three of the fighters appeared together in Swindon Magistrates' Court on August 14, with another two appearing later on.

Mason McRae, 20, of Courtenay Road, Caine Bowers, 28, of Meadowcroft, and Warwick Schonke, 26, of Beatty Court, all from Swindon, pleaded guilty to affray.

Kate Prince, prosecuting, said the fight between two groups on December 23, 2022, was captured on a 15-minute CCTV tape.

“There were a lot of punches - some people are victims, not perpetrators, so were not charged," said Ms Prince.

The most serious offence was by Bowers as he brandished what was possibly a chair leg, though it is unclear if he struck anyone with it.

Gordon Hotson, representing the trio, revealed that McRae has no criminal record and Schonke has “nothing of relevance”.

While Bowers and Schonke sat together in the dock both in black with tattoos, McCrae in a white shirt sat slightly apart and left separately.

They will appear at Swindon Magistrates' Court on September 26, granted unconditional bail.

Two people from the other side were also charged. One is named on court documents as Finn James, of Celsus Avenue, Swindon.
