Police swooped to arrest a man at a Swindon petrol station after calls from concerned bystanders.
Shortly after midnight, on the morning of Wednesday, August 14, members of the public allegedly spotted a driver “stumbling around” at the Texaco filling station on Kingshill Road.
Police were called and raced to the scene, where they approached a man reportedly in possession of alcohol.
Officers believed he was intoxicated and carried out a roadside breath test, which he allegedly failed.
The man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and remains in custody for questioning at the time of writing.
Roads Policing Sgt Will Ayres said: “Drink driving is one of the fatal five offences – an offence most likely to cause somebody to be involved in a serious injury or fatal collision.
“We are currently running a summer road safety campaign highlighting the dangers of committing any of the fatal five offences, reminding drivers that there is simply no excuse when it comes to breaking the law on our roads.
“We will continue to target drivers who fail to abide by the law in an attempt to make our roads as safe as possible.”
