Drivers have been warned to avoid a road near Swindon after wet concrete was dumped on the route.

Two lorries were spotted navigating the steep Callas Hill, on the edge of Wanborough, shortly after 4pm on Wednesday, August 14.

Wet concrete is believed to have fallen out the back of the vehicles accidentally as they attempted to climb the hill.

Pictures show that, at the time of writing, it covered the road.

Conservative Councillor for Ridgeway Ward, who witnessed the incident, warned motorists to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

He has advised the council’s highways team of the situation and they have reportedly been deployed to resolve the issue.

Cllr Sumner added: “I’ve spoken to streetworks and they’re on their way.

“These concrete mixer lorries were driving up a very steep hill and the concrete was dumped straight out the back, likely by accident.”

Traffic maps are currently reporting slow moving traffic in the area, with queues on Callas Hill tailing back to Wanborough High Street.
