Owen Russell, assistant principal and head of sixth form, said: “We are delighted to see our students obtaining really strong results this year and being able to go on to their chosen university, apprenticeships and careers.

“Staff at The Park Academies Trust Sixth Form have once again gone above and beyond providing a particular focus on student wellbeing as well as guidance on achieving the qualifications needed for successful futures.

“In addition to our 2024 leavers, I would to congratulate former student Lucas Iopp.

"Following a gap year during which he volunteered at TPAT Sixth Form as an academic mentor, Lucas has successfully gained a place at the University of Oxford to read Medicine. Lucas achieved the following grades: Biology – A*, Chemistry – A, Mathematics – A*, EPQ – A*.”

James Nicholson, interim CEO of The Park Academies Trust, added: “Congratulations to all our students and staff. I wish everyone the very best for the future and I’m delighted that staff, students and families can be proud of all the impressive achievements.”

In North Swindon, the Great Western Academy marked the fourth A-level results since it first opened.

Overall, 22 per cent of all grades achieved were A*or A, and 21 of 54 students gained at least one of those top grades, while 41 per cent of all grades were A* to B, and there was a 97 per cent pass rate.

Stand out performers were Maisie (A* A* A*), Athaliah (A*A*A), Grace (A*AAC), Alicja (A*AA) and Niamh (A*AB).

Alicja becomes the fourth GWA student in four years to take up a place at Oxbridge, in her case to study Biomedical Sciences at Oxford.

Naomi succeeded in gaining a place to study Medicine at Nottingham.

Overall, around three quarters of students will go on to university, with a third of them securing places at Russell Group universities. Many other students have impressive apprenticeship pathways ahead of them, including pilot training and the police force.

Head of Sixth Form David Smith, said “We are really pleased for our students and especially that nearly all of them have achieved what they needed for their next steps.

“This is one of GWA’s main goals, to ensure students aim high and move on to what they want to do, whether that is Oxbridge, another university, an apprenticeship, or moving into the world of work.”

Great Western Academy Sixth Form expands to over 200 students in September with its very first cohort reaching year 13.
