A lucky Swindon shopper has been revealed as one of the first customers to win Poundland's promotion giving people £1,000 just for shopping there. 

Last week Poundland launched the new Grand in Your Hand programme that would see 30 of its customers right across the UK win £1,000 for each of the following 30 days.

Thirty customers chosen at random are set to receive an instant cash prize this month when they pay at any of the discounter’s 3,000 manned checkouts in any of its 750-plus UK stores.

(Image: Professional Images (UK) Ltd) And on Thursday, Poundland confirmed that one of the first winners is a Poundland shopper from Swindon who’ll be receiving £1,000 in their bank account in the next few days.

Bradley from Tadpole Garden Village, 19, won his prize by taking part in the launch day event at Birmingham’s Grand Central Station and is a regular shopper at the Poundland store at Swindon’s town centre near the Brunel Centre.

Today Bradley went into the store to get his prize from manager Tony Kent.

Apprentice Bradley said: “I was overjoyed and excited to have won – I now plan to go away with my brother on holiday with the winnings.

Poundland Swindon store manager Tony said: “It’s amazing that one of the first 30 winners is one of our regular shoppers. We couldn’t believe it either! It just goes to show that we really do offer amazing value here at Poundland!”

No additional purchase is required to take part in Grand in Your Hand. Poundland customers simply check out as normal and the computer systems at each store select a shopper at random each day to win a life-changing grand in their hand.
