Police closed one of Swindon’s busiest roads while officers responded to a reported welfare issue.
Officers from Wiltshire Police were called to Thamesdown Drive, between Penhill and the Orbital Shopping Centre, and were on scene shortly after 9pm on Sunday, August 18.
Police say the reason for their presence was a welfare issue in the area, and while emergency services were responding to this Thamesdown Drive was shut to all traffic.
Traffic maps appear to show that, as of Monday morning, the route has been reopened to traffic with no significant delays in the area.
At the time of the closure, a spokesperson for the force said: “Please be aware that Thamesdown Drive in Swindon is currently closed to all traffic from Penhill to the Orbital Shopping Centre due to an ongoing welfare issue.
“Members of the public are asked to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while emergency services are in attendance.
“Thank you for your understanding.”
