Jeremy Clarkson has confirmed when he will open his new £1 million pub The Windmill to the public.

In a social media post, the former Top Gear presenter, 64, also confirmed that it will have a new name.

Mr Clarkson initially thought the historic pub in five acres of grounds near Burford wouldn't be open to the public until 2025.

But the doors are set to open on Friday (August 23) - just in time for August Bank Holiday.

At the same time the Clarkson's Farm star has also confirmed that it will have a new name.

Above a picture of a hound that looked very much like his own pet featured on Clarkson's Farm series 4, he wrote: "The Farmer’s Dog opens Friday 23rd August 12pm."

This week aerial photographs showed a huge 5,000 square metre marquee has been erected in the gardens as well as outdoor tables are ready at the venue which is roughly 10 miles from his Diddly Squat Farm.

Mr Clarkson has previously said he will ban "noisy TVs", encourage traditional pub games, serve only British produce and hand out a free pint of Hawkstone beer to farmers.

He also said it will be a place where "confusing toilet signs and slot machines" would not be allowed.

Last week he posted on X/Twitter: "There’s a flagpole in the garden of my new pub and I’m wondering what sort of flag should be flown up there."

West Oxfordshire District Council and Oxfordshire District Council said they have been assisting his team over any potential traffic issues.
