An Indian restaurant in Shrivenham has been given a one-star food hygiene rating.
The owner of Gulshan Brasserie says it will soon be “back to normal”, having previously been rated two.
The Bangladeshi-Indian restaurant says it has “developed a reputation” as a “newly refurbished contemporary restaurant” where “flavours and tastes delight your palate” with generous portions.
For food safety and structural compliance, improvement is necessary, while major improvement is needed in confidence in management.
Abdul, the owner, said: “Everything is fine, everything is very good, everything is all back to normal.”
He said that the inspectors on July 1 had objected to structural damage to the corners of internal walls and one of the freezers was not working.
The owner, who did not give a surname, said the freezer is being replaced and the walls repaired.
He said the low confidence in management was because the manager was not present.
“The faults there are because he went on holiday back home. His mother was really ill. So he stayed three months with his mother," explained Abdul.
The establishment was left under temporary management at the time of the inspection.
Gulshan is expected to be re-inspected in eight weeks when Abdul is hoping to rectify the score.
It was previously rated two after an assessment on October 24, 2023.
