Three people were seen 'running from the scene' of a multi-vehicle crash outside the Swindon Designer Outlet.
At least three cars were involved, as well as a heavy goods vehicle, with video footage showing all suffered significant damage.
Wiltshire Police closed Kemble Drive next to the car park and the entrance to the shopping centre on Tuesday afternoon (August 20).
Both Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue and South Western Ambulance Service also attended.
Video taken at the scene and posted on the Instagram Stories of Asbobaker showed a number of people running from the scene in the immediate aftermath.
In the footage, the cameraman can be seen getting out of the cabin of the HGV and then three people are seen running off towards Rodbourne Road.
The person behind the camera then says: "No way has that just happened, no way". And then they ask someone else standing in the middle of the road: "Are you alright?"
On the side of the road closest to the Designer Outlet, the video shows a light silver car that has a completely crumbled bonnet and front with smoke pouring from the engine. In front of it there is a darker grey car with a dented driver-side door and in front is a red Mini with a caved-in rear end.
On the other side of the road is a large Wttl lorry with learner plates on.
At this moment another man flees the scene towards Rodbourne Road, with someone giving chase. Onlookers can be seen gathering at the set of traffic lights leading up to the Designer Outlet entrance.
Photos taken later showed two of the vehicles involved being removed from the road by a recovery truck as police maintained the road closure.
It is not yet known what exactly happened or if anyone was seriously injured.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called just before 2.15pm yesterday to a report of a collision outside the Designer Outlet near the roundabout for Kemble Drive and Rodbourne Road involving a lorry, a Mini and a Mondeo.
"Three people were seen to run from the scene and enquiries are currently ongoing.
"Recovery was arranged for the vehicles.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue provided the following statement regarding the incident.
"They said: "A crew from Swindon were called to Kemble Drive at 2.31pm yesterday afternoon following reports of a road traffic collision.
"The incident involved three cars and a large goods vehicle – no rescues were required and no fire was involved so crews assisted with scene safety.
"Our stop was at 3.15pm."
