A delivery driver has lost his licence and been fined over one thousand pounds after being caught drug-driving on the M4.
Artur Kozlov, 46, of Westminster Drive, West Sussex, pleaded guilty to drug-driving and having cannabis in his possession at Swindon Magistrates Court on August 20.
Kozlov was driving a Mercedes Sprinter Van on the westbound carriage of the M4 near junction 15 on May 14 when he caught the attention of officers and was pulled over in Swindon.
He failed the roadside drug test and was taken to the police station, where he provided a blood sample which showed cannabis in his system.
During his interview, Kozlov admitted to being in possession of cannabis but said it was for his personal use.
Mr Glendenning, defending, told the court Kozlov was a regular cannabis user at the time and did own up to smoking on that day, adding that he had two children under 12 and worked as a delivery driver to support them, but would need to find a different occupation if disqualified.
The magistrate told Kozlov: “You cannot take drugs and drive in the UK.”
He was disqualified for 12 months, fined £450 for drug-driving, £300 for possession of a class B drug and ordered to pay a £300 surcharge and £85 court costs – totalling £1,135.
