A failed proposal to build a house on green space in Liden returns, while Wiltshire Wildlife Trust has paused its plan to create better habitats for fish and aquatic animals in Mouldon Hill Country Park

LIDEN: A development company has returned with a much-revised plan for a single house that was refused last year.

Planners turned down a proposal to build two detached three-bed houses on open space next to 14 Matley Moor.

Now Regeneration South Ltd has submitted a plan for one detached house of two-storeys with three bedrooms and a study as well as the usual living arrangements.

There has been one objection to the proposal from a neighbour, repeating the opposition that saw the previous plan fail- that the site has long been used as an open green space by residents, particularly children, as a safe place to play.

BLUNSDON ST ANDREW: When planners turned down Trevor Kenyon’s request for  a certificate of lawfulness to enclose two parking spaces behind 6 Holloway Close, they said it was because the permission to build the houses insisted each one came with the spaces.

Therefore, the decision said, the proposal would need a proper planning permission. Mr Kenyon has now put in an application for that permission. Satellite images suggest houses to either side of number six have  been able to enclose such spaces to create walled rear gardens.

HIGHWORTH: A request for permission in principle has been submitted to  knock down  what are described as ‘non-residential’ buildings at Fennels Farm on Shrivenham Road, and put up between two and six two detached houses in their place.

The application, by a redacted applicant, says the narrow site off the west side of the main road into Highworth is surrounded by either recently-built housing developments, or those that have planning permission. It adds that there are already residences on the site itself.

SOUTH MARSTON: Honda Motor Europe Logistics, which has its warehouse in Viscount Way very close to the former car manufacturing plant, has neen given permission to install solar panels on its roof.

UPPER STRATTON: Approval has been granted to the proposals by developer a Mr Gascoigne to convert the house at 37 Dores Road into a seven-bed  student-style shared house of multiple occupation.

Permission for a ground floor extension was granted earlier this year.

HAYDON WICK: Wiltshire Wildlife Trust has withdrawn its application to carry out work on the river bank of the River Ray as it winds its way through Mouldon Hill Country Park.

The trust had proposed digging out some lowered areas of flood plain, designed to flood after heavy rain, and also to create a backwater area as a shelter for juvenile fish.

A flood engineer consulted of the council said the work needs a flood risk action permit before comments can be made.

EXTENSIONS: Applications have been submitted to build extensions to houses, or outbuildings, or to convert garages and lofts into habitable rooms at 13 Hesketh Crescent, Old Town; 15 Paddock Close, Haydon Wick; 2 Verulam Close, Stratton St Margaret; 7 Fairford Crescent, Penhill; 39 Yiewsley Crescent, Stratton St Margaret; 9 Manor Close, Wroughton; 32 Ripon Way, park south; 165 Marlborough Road, Lawn; 40 Iffley Road, Rodbourne and The Bungalow, Chapel Farm, Lower Widhill Farm lane, Blunsdon.

Such applications have been approved at 10 Norton Grove, Old Walcot; 39 Bryanston Way, Nythe; 5 Merlin Way, Covingham; 81 Priors Hill, Wroughton

A certificate of prior approval has been refused for  A Moore’s proposal to build a rear extension to 4 Conrad Close in  Liden.

Planning officers said: “The proposed extension by virtue of its excessive depth would result in visual dominance, that would significantly impact the neighbouring resident's enjoyment of outdoor and ground floor living space. As such the proposed development is considered to adversely affect neighbour amenity.”
