A lot can change in 40 years as these recently unearthed photos of 80s Swindon prove.
Pictures taken by Roger Earle around 1983 show a very different-looking town from what we know today.
From the fashions ( a lot more shirts and ties) to the cars (when Ford Escorts ruled supreme) and of course the numerous different businesses - some of which we have loved and lost.
Swindon's main high streets appear bustling with shoppers, and with plenty of shops to enjoy - with few, if any stores appearing empty.
Many have pointed out the delightful hanging baskets aligning the streets, giving the area a splash of colour.
The old double-deckers used to take people into town were captured as well as the extensive work being carried out on the corner fo Fleet Street, now a large office space.
