The A419 was closed by police after they responded to an incident.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that they had received calls about a possibly mental health-related incident on the overbridge of the A419 at the White Hart roundabout, near the pub of the same name.
As a result, the county force closed the A419 is closed in both directions between the on/off sliproads at White Hart roundabout.
A police spokesperson said in the announcement at the time: "Whilst the incident is dealt with by specialist trained officers, please avoid the area and seek an alternative route."
National Highways added: "A419 closed in both directions between the A420 Swindon and A316 Stratton St Margaret due to an ongoing Wiltshire Police and Wiltshire Specialist Ops led incident. "
Diversion information was posted letting motorists know where to go instead.
But everything was safely resolved roughly an hour later, with National Highways confirming that the road had reopened
A National Highways spokesperson said: "The police-led incident has been successfully resolved and the road is being reopened in both directions.
"Delays will not take long to clear."
