The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates' Court during August.

STRATTON ST MARGARET: Amy King, of Sanders Close, has been sentenced for two counts of assault by beating.

The 20-year-old pleaded guilty to hitting two men in Swindon on April 27, 2024. She must pay £100 in compensation to each victim as well as a fine of £288 plus £85 in court costs and £115 to fund victim services.

Separately, 43-year-old Richard King, of the same address, pleaded guilty to assaulting two men in Swindon on the same date, one of whom was also one of Amy’s victims.

He must pay £100 in compensation to that victim as well as £150 in compensation to the other person he attacked, along with a fine of £1,666 plus £85 in court costs and £666 to fund victim services.

PARK NORTH: Mark Brown, of Dulverton Avenue, has been sentenced for harassment.

The 47-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to breaching a restraining order twice by contacting a woman by calling her on August 17 and 24, 2024, which the order imposed by Swindon Magistrates Court on September 29, 2023, prohibited him from doing.

He must pay a fine of £213 as well as £85 in court costs. The restraining order has been extended to March 2025.

WALCOT: Nathaniel Doering, of Redruth Close, has been sentenced for beating an emergency worker.

The 25-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to hitting a male police officer in Swindon on January 20, 2024.

The defendant received a community order that requires him to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months and pay £50 in compensation to the victim as well as £85 in court costs plus £114 to fund victim services.

EAST WICHEL: Martin Bradford, of Offerton Road, has been sentenced for thefts from a shop.

The 46-year-old pleaded guilty to stealing cider worth £7.20 from a Swindon Co-op on March 29, 2024, taking quiche, pasties, and mustard worth £15 from the supermarket chain on April 7, and shoplifting cider and barbecue sauce worth £9.60 from the same shop on April 9.

He also admitted to stealing cheese from the East Wichel Co-op on July 18, 2024.

He must pay £15, £7,20, and £2.80 in compensation.

TOWN CENTRE: Kirushenmoorthy Kajavathanan, of Graham Street, has been sentenced for a driving-related offence.

The 37-year-old pleaded guilty to failing to provide a breath sample to police when suspected of having driven a vehicle on August 7, 2024, during the course of an investigation into whether he had committed an offence.

He has been banned from driving for 24 months, fined £369, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £148 to fund victim services.

WALCOT: Stephanie Packer, of Welcombe Avenue, has been sentenced for possession of a Class B drug.

The 40-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to having cannabis in Swindon on June 25, 2024.

She must pay a fine of £166 as well as £85 in court costs plus £66 to fund victim services.

The illegal substance has been forfeited and destroyed. 

CHIPPENHAM: Samuel Wood, of Yewstock Crescent West, has been sentenced for drug driving.

The 18-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a blue Ford Fiesta along Bath Road in Chippenham without a licence and while having 3.5 grams of Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood in him on April 8, 2024.

He also indicated a plea of guilty to possessing a quantity of cannabis.

The defendant has been banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £33 to fund victim services.

The Class B drug has been forfeited and destroyed.
