A suspected arson attack has destroyed containers full of equipment for a Swindon football club.
Swindon Supermarine Youth FC shared the shocking news that they had lost the majority of the kit stored at the Webbswood Stadium Complex on Supermarine Road, including important resources used for training, pitch marking, and the summer tournament.
Vandals are thought to have set the two containers alight on Wednesday afternoon.
A spokesperson for the youth club said: "Our appreciation to Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service for their efforts. We'll have another update once we know the full extent of our losses."
A spokesperson for Swindon Supermarine FC added: "Purely despicable actions and everyone at the club is hurting with anger over this.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were mobilised to Supermarine Road, South Marston at 2.36pm on Wednesday afternoon with reports of a small fire in the open.
"A crew from Westlea attended where they extinguished the fire using one hose reel jet and checked an adjacent container using a thermal imaging camera.
"The police were informed, and our stop was at 3.12pm."
