Police closed a rural road in Wiltshire following a “serious” crash.
Officers rushed to the rural road near Bushton, less than 10 miles south of Swindon, at its junction with Withy Bed Crossroads during the early hours of the morning on Friday, August 30.
Shortly after midnight, police confirmed they had closed the route from this crossroads to the junction south west of this one.
The what3words location for this second junction is mint.corrupted.inquest, between BP Milling and the Manor Equestrian and Livery Centre.
At the time, officers warned drivers that a serious crash had taken place overnight and the route was unlikely to reopen soon.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Please be aware of a closure in place on the rural road near Bushton from Withy Bed crossroads to the crossroads south west of this junction (w3w mint.corrupted.inquest).
“This is due to a serious road traffic collision.
“The route is likely to be closed for a substantial period to allow emergency services to attend.
“Please use alternative routes and expect delays in the area.”
At the time of writing, traffic maps indicated that the road remained closed for investigation work, although police are yet to confirm this, but there were no significant delays reported in the area.
