Mystery surrounds the future of an Indian restaurant and takeaway in Swindon town centre.

Aby’s Indian Experience on Faringdon Road has not been open since the beginning of May and despite multiple social media posts promising the restaurant will be back open soon, the date is still yet to be revealed.

One post on May 17 read: “Aby’s Indian Experience is temporarily closed, but don’t worry. We will be back serving up sizzling curries in no time.”

While the most recent post on July 5 advised customers they were closed for a “short while” and would be open “as soon as possible.”

But the owners have failed to provide an explanation about the closure, leaving many customers confused, particularly as the restaurant’s phone number is also now inactive.

In 2022, the restaurant closed when former manager Rajib Malaker decided not to extend the lease and instead became the co-owner of Mela, a contemporary Indian restaurant in Old Town.

The restaurant then appeared to be back in business by January 2023 and the owners were utilising social media to promote discount deals earlier this year before the closure.

Aby’s Indian Experience was approached for comment.
