Nine roads have been repaired as part of a major maintenance programme over the summer holidays.

The improvement work formed part of Swindon Borough Council’s annual major and minor road resurfacing programme, which will see just over £4m invested to fix deteriorating road surfaces across the Borough this financial year.

The resurfacing was carried out over the summer holidays to minimise disruption to residents and road users.

In addition to resurfacing on Tadpole Lane and Thamesdown Drive, the following roads were repaired

•    Hook Street
•    Inverary Road, Wroughton
•    Ferndale Road (pictured above)
•    Gooch Street
•    Huntley Close
•    Markham Close, Walcot
•    Dawlish Road, Park North
•    Shakespeare Path, Stratton
•    Boscombe Road, Moredon

Prior to the work starting, councillor Chris Watts, Swindon Borough Council’s cabinet member for the environment and transport, said: “We have a long list of roads which are in need of repair across Swindon and these ones are on our priority list and have been identified by our inspectors as being in really poor condition.

“A lack of investment over the years means there are many more roads that require our attention, but we only have so much capital funding to carry out this work and we have to manage this carefully to keep the Borough’s roads safe and in as good a condition as we can for local residents."
