A developer looking at making an application to build new houses on the rural edge of Swindon is looking for feedback from people living nearby.

No formal application for planning permission has yet been lodged, but Hannick  Homes is looking at a site to the east of Hodson Road in Chiseldon directly to the north of the houses in Home Close.

The company’s website says: “Hannick is promoting this 6.4 acre site in the village of Chiseldon, Wiltshire for approximately 42 dwellings.

“The site is within walking distance of a range of community services and facilities, including the village primary school, local shops, pub, recreation ground and village hall.

“ We are working with Swindon Borough Council and Chiseldon Parish Council to promote the site within the emerging Local Plan and Neighbourhood Plan.”

The company has developed a website, Hodsonroad.com  where it gives a broad outline of its likely proposals. It says the plan includes: “A mix of house types, including bungalows, with 30 per cent affordable housing.”

The website lists: “Open space providing opportunities for biodiversity enhancements, on-plot car parking, vehicular access from Hodson Road, traffic-calming measures on Hodson Road, retention of the  access track serving neighbouring properties, additional planting to reinforce the site’s boundaries and an opportunity for a new footpath along the eastern side of Hodson Road connecting to the bus stop.”

A plan shows green spaces and trees between the new houses and those in Home Close, and flood alleviation ponds in the north east of the site.

Chiseldon Parish Council is keen for residents to use the parish authority as a way of getting their views to the housebuilding firm.

A posting on the council’s Facebook page said: ”The parish council has asked Hannick Homes if it can be a conduit for the public to ask questions about the potential planning application that may soon be placed with SBC.

“There may be many concerns over this proposal and if you have a specific question than the parish council is happy to collate these and pass them on.”

The posting gives an example of the sort of things people might want to ask about: “One of our councillors was concerned over perimeter fencing being a target for graffiti. Hannick Homes advised the development would not have perimeter fencing and most homes would be situated with their front gardens facing the edges of the development.”
