A group of caravan and motorhome owners who parked opposite a Swindon school earlier this week and were ordered to leave have now moved to a new field.

On Monday, September 2, members of the public reported seeing caravans, cars and vans which had pitched up on Nythe field at Tyneham Road, near Covingham.

This raised particular concern in the community, as the field backs onto Nythe Primary School, which is set to reopen on Wednesday, September 4.

But that same day, the group were ordered to leave after Swindon Borough Council put a County Council Order in place, and the site was cleared by Monday afternoon.

The group has now been spotted on Buckhurst Field.

A spokesperson for Walcot and Park North Councillors said: "Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire Police are aware of a group of Travellers that have moved onto Buckhurst Field on September 2, 2024.

"The group consist of three caravans with accompanying vehicles and a motorhome and they have advised that they intend on moving on by the weekend of September 7.

"At this stage, they have been cooperative to Wiltshire Police instructions when this group previously arrived on Sunday, September 1 opposite Nythe Primary School, and moved on as requested due to the impact and location close to the school.

"The group have been advised they must ensure the area is kept clean and clear."
