A man from Swindon will be supporting stars like Tom Hanks with his unique furniture business popular with movie makers.

Cameron Carash, 27, provided items for the cast of Forrest Gump in an upcoming movie, Here, to be released in November.

Through his company Hus & Home, Carash has worked with Netflix shows and interior designers and believes his original mid-century furniture is having a revival.(Image: Cameron Carash)

He said: “Seeing my furniture on screen is absolutely great. It's completely different to my normal day job, but it's really exciting.

“The people you meet, places where the stuff goes, and especially seeing it in the final films.”

He also provided items for Everything Once, a Netflix series released in 2023, and for an upcoming 2025 spy film, Black Bag, with Cate Blancher and Michael Fassbender.

Carash said his shop is popular with movie makers as it is one of the few businesses of its kind in the area and charges reasonable rates.

Carash, whose main job is as a facilities manager at a private hospital, started collecting and restoring period pieces aged 14, when he visited an auction with his father.

“I think the first thing I ever bought was a box of copper stamps. I bought it for £25. And I ended up selling it for £160.

He added: “It’s exciting having started out at 14 and being 27 at the moment, seeing where I am now and especially where it could go in the future.”(Image: Cameron Carash)

He soon realised the desire for mid-century furniture, which he said brands like IKEA have begun to replicate.

He said: “People recognise it from their granny’s house and say ‘I don't want that again’, and then they get it.”

He said both homeowners and movie makers are realising that furniture that may be associated with their grandparents is becoming popular again.

He added: “I love the style. I love the materials that it's made of, the design, the lot - it’s completely different to anything that you'll see nowadays.

“And it is true what they say, furniture isn't as good as what it was years ago.”

While customers must currently book an appointment to view his furniture, he hopes to open up a space in Swindon where homeowners can view his wares.
