A Swindon family is giving out cupcakes and coffee to families in need as part of a back-to-school pick-me-up.

Josie Reeve and partner Kurt Giddings have arranged for GlamoRose Cakes to bake a batch of sweet treats that will be given away around Penhill in the coming days.

People can pop over to the Everleigh Centre on Everleigh Road from 6pm to 9pm on Friday, September 6, and to the community cafe in John Moulton Hall on Penhill Drive from 1pm to 3pm on Tuesday, September 10, to grab a snack and a hot drink.

A third giveaway is in the works at a time and location that is yet to be determined, and they would like to thank Dianne, who works on behalf of Penhill street team, for hosting the cafes and youth club sessions.

Back in October 2020, Josie and Kurt enlisted their best friends, and owners of bakery Sugar Shack, Dean and Elly Ireland to produce more than 700 meals for children on the free school meals scheme during the half term.

The group set up their Mylo's Lunches scheme - named after Kurt's son - in the Town Gardens.

Now, they have started a new project to coincide with the beginning of the autumn term.

Josie said: "With all the doom and gloom in recent months, hopefully this can put a well-deserved smile on some faces!"
