Swindon Town has announced another weekend of live music will be held at the County Ground in 2025, as it confirmed the profitability of the 2024 event.
The bank holiday weekend in May 2025 will see the dance brand Clubland taking over the stadium on May 23, with more unannounced coming for May 24.
Clubland will bring an event “full of nostalgia” with live acts from the 90s and 2000s - the full Clubland lineup will be announced in the coming weeks.
Swindon Town Chief Commercial Officer, James Watts said: “We are delighted to announce that the Nigel Eady County Ground will hold a weekend of live music events in 2025 following this year’s successful events.”
“Following this year’s event at the Nigel Eady County Ground where over 5,000 people attended, we have listened to and acknowledged all of the feedback around bars and food and we will be improving all of these areas for 2025 with additional bars, food vendors and earlier entry times for VIP and Hospitality guests.”
The 2024 event faced some criticism over long bar queues and a limited variety of food, with only sausage rolls, pasties and hot dogs and people reporting hour-long drinks queues.
While there was a generally positive response to Chris Moyles' 90s Hangover and the Could Be Real Tribute Festival, James Watts said he had learned from issues.
He previously said: “For the first event in 10 years at the County Ground this was a huge success, we know there are issues around food and drink, but we will rectify these moving forward and bring Swindon an even bigger event in 2025.”
He said that in 2025 there would be external food vendors on-site, as well as the matchday kiosks.
In minutes released today, the club’s advisory board responded to a question over the profitability of the event, saying it was profitable and “a success for the club”, despite “a few teething issues on the first day”.
Watts said: "These events will be for customers over the age of 18 following consultations with key stakeholders and Swindon Borough Council, but the club are looking to host a family event for Under-18’s during the off-season."
