A BMW flipped on the M4 while a yellow weather warning was in place and caused miles of traffic.
Wiltshire Police were called to the incident on Thursday, September 5 at 1.15pm to find a BMW 116 had overturned on the M4 westbound just before junction 15, near Wanborough.
Traffic backed up for 3.5 miles at one point, with up to an hour of delays according to the AA.
The incident occurred in the midst of a three-day yellow weather warning covering much of the south of England and Wales.
The Met Office warned of heavy rain leading to difficult driving conditions and possible flooding.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called at 1.15pm yesterday to a report that a vehicle had flipped on the M4 westbound just prior to junction 15.
“The vehicle was a BMW 116. The scene was cleared by 2.35pm.”
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 13:14hrs on Thursday 05 September to a road traffic collision in Wanborough, Wiltshire.
“We sent one double-crewed land ambulance and an operations officer to the scene. We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Great Western Hospital.”
