A Swindon school says it will reopen tomorrow after it was forced to suddenly close and all pupils were sent home due to water pressure issues.

School parents and guardians were told by Abbey Park School in an email on September 9 that children were being sent home as the school was experiencing water supply problems.

This was also posted onto the school's website.

In an update that afternoon, the head of school, Mr Ward, shared that the faulty part has been identified and is in the process of being replaced.(Image: Dave Cox)

He said: “I am pleased to announce that we should be in a position to open the school tomorrow as normal.

“Thank you for your understanding and patience whilst this matter was being investigated and, once again, apologies for the inconvenience caused today.”

The unplanned closure also means that the school will not be closing earlier on Tuesday in preparation for its open evening - pupils will finish at the normal time of 3:10pm.

The school closed at 10am with children being sent home following period one.

A message on the school’s website advised that homework would be available on ePraise for pupils to access while year seven students were sent an email with tasks to complete.
