A furniture shop has reopened after a month-long refurbishment, and now offers free drinks to customers as they shop.

ScS in Bridgemead Retail Park closed at the end of July for new flooring, lighting and decoration, as well as new signage throughout.

The now-open store now offers a new Italian range and all staff have been retrained “to provide an elevated service to customers”.

An ScS spokesperson said: “The store has been fully refurbished, including new flooring, lighting and decoration, as well as new signage throughout. (Image: ScS)

“The reopening of the store unveils not only a new look, but new products for customers to shop, including ScS' new Italian range of Poltronesofa furniture.

The Group’s business commenced trading in Sunderland in 1894 as Suite Centre Sunderland as a family-owned general home furnishings store.

Following a management buyout in 1993, the business began to expand outside of the North East of England. It now operates from 100 showrooms across the UK.

According to the company, the most important element of these stores is the that they provide the ‘sit test’ to customers.
