An army officer has been accused of stealing almost one million pounds from the British Army.

Jed Charlot, of Chichester Close in Andover, has been charged with fraud by abuse of position, theft by employee and possession of criminal property in military barracks in Tidworth.

Mr Charlot has been accused of abusing his position as quarter master sergeant by intending to make a personal gain of £900,000, as well as stealing money of that value, and using, having or possessing it.

Each alleged offence took place between December 1, 2021 and October 31, 2022, at 6 Armoured Batt REME Military Barracks in Tidworth. The money is said to have belonged to the British Army/Ministry of Defence.

At a hearing in Salisbury Magistrates Court on September 6, Mr Charlot indicated no plea to all three charges. He will face trial at Salisbury Crown Court on October 9.
