Two young men have been arrested for weapon and drug offences after a van was stopped on the M4 near Swindon for a relatively minor reason.
Officers stopped a white Volkswagen Caddy being driven “erratically” with dark window tints on the motorway.
The two occupants were arrested for a litany of suspected driving, drug and weapon offences following a search and a drug swipe.
One man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and possession of offensive weapons.
Another man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis, possession of offensive weapons and drug driving.
They both remain in police custody for questioning.
The Roads Policing Unit that made the stop shared it on social media, writing: “#RPU stopped the caddy due to the window tints.
“Checks revealed no licence, no insurance, drug driving, illegal window tints, offensive weapons and both occupants arrested for supplying cannabis.”
They added: “#NotJustTickets”, referring to the typical fines issued by traffic officers for driving offences.
Pictures shared by the team show plastic bags if cannabis, a drug test showing positive for cannabis, and the van itself, stopped behind a police car.
