A swimming pool near Swindon has been forced to close “unexpectedly”, and has not yet been able to reopen.
The pool in Highworth Recreation Centre remains closed after it was forced to shut yesterday afternoon, September 11.
A spokesperson for the pool said that an issue with the pool’s pumps was responsible for the closure, and it is expected to reopen on Saturday, September 14.
The latest update on their Facebook page states: “Unfortunately, we have been unable to rectify the current issue with our pool and will have to remain closed for today and tomorrow (12th & 13th Sept).
"This means no public swimming or swimming lessons taking place. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
“Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for further updates on time of reopening.
“Thank you for your understanding and patience.”
Although this closure is only temporary, it has exacerbated issues caused by the area's dwindling swimming pool provisions.
Noteworthy examples include the Oasis Leisure Centre, which should be refurbished soon and the Health Hydro, which is undergoing refurbishment.
The latter is planned to reopen in early 2025, according to the company that manages it, Better.
