A road near Swindon has been closed while Thames Water engineers respond to a water leak.

The leak on Priors Hill in Wroughton was reported to the utility firm and dealt with on Thursday, September 12.

While crews worked at the scene the route was shut to traffic and, while the leak has now been stopped and the pipe repaired, it will remain closed for several days.

This is to allow the reinstatement of the road, which has been affected by the repair works.

The closure is currently due to continue until the end of Monday, September 16.

Thames Water has apologised for any disruption that is caused during this time.

A spokesperson said: “Our engineers attended to a leak on Priors Hill in Wroughton, Swindon, and have successfully repaired the pipe.

“A road closure will remain in place while our team reinstates the road over the coming days.

“We are sorry for any disruption caused to local residents and motorists during this time.”Â
