A pool near Swindon has reopened after an unexpected closure when it temporarily joined the ranks of closed local swimming spots.
Highworth Recreation Centre was forced to close its swimming pool due to a mechanical issue with the pumps on September 11.
Today, Saturday 14, the pool has reopened on schedule for its full swim programme. This has been confirmed directly by the centre.
A spokesperson for Halo Leisure, which managed the Centre, said: “The issues with the pool pumps were quickly addressed by the technical team.
They added: “Thank you for your understanding and patience during this period.”
Although only a three-day closure, it was compounded by issues caused by the area's dwindling swimming pool provision.
Noteworthy examples include the Oasis Leisure Centre, which should be refurbished soon and the Health Hydro, which is undergoing refurbishment.
The latter is planned to reopen in early 2025, according to the company that manages it, Better, following a project that includes the restoration of the main pool, Turkish baths and general structure.
Earlier this year, Alexandra House, a Wroughton hotel with a pool, also closed due to energy costs.
