Swindon’s very own singing twins, Billy and Louie Hughes, impressed all four judges in the first stage of ITV competition The Voice UK.

After hearing them sing the judges - Mcfly’s Danny and Tom Fletcher, LeAnn Rimes, will.i.am, and Sir Tom Jones - hit their red buttons and spun their chairs in approval on Saturday, September 14.

After a lively deliberation, the twins chose to join Team Sir Tom, marking the first time in The Voice UK’s history that Sir Tom has coached a twin duo.(Image: ITV)

The twins said: “'It was truly amazing to perform in front of 5 legendary performers.

“It was a tough decision but we had to choose Sir Tom. He's been in the business for a long time and collaborated with some of our favourite artists.

“We knew Tom would be the right choice for us to hopefully guide us in the direction we need.”

In the next phase of the show, members of teams perform duets and the coach chooses who advances to the next stage.

The 21-year-olds were hoping for success after a previous appearance on Little Mix: The Search, when they got all four votes in round one but did not progress further.

Louie told the Advertiser that the pair’s stage presence was something they had worked on in the four years between television appearances.

He said: “It's so full of energy compared to what we used to do when we were just starting out.

“I think people really notice the energy change and just that we're comfortable doing what we do.”

He added: “We want to showcase how much we've grown recently, and how we've developed with the recent release of our EP, and all our live performances.

“I think it's going to to a really nice opportunity for people to catch up with what we've been doing, and see how much we've grown.”

Despite their national success, Billy and Louie remain deeply connected to Swindon, leading award-winning local choirs, with 50 members said to have been watching Saturday’s show.

One year on from the release of their EP, Manifesting, the duo has announced their debut concert at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre on February 6, 2025 featuring tracks from their own discography and classics backed by a six-piece band.
