Swindon Bus Company has announced significant changes to its travelcard which will impact many passengers.

It is set to scrap the travelcard, which it says is over 10 years old, as it says it has become “unreliable”.

Customers will soon no longer be able to apply for a travelcard, as they are encouraging passengers to use the Swindon Bus Company app.

Earlier this year, they were able to introduce the travel pass products onto their app and these can be scanned by Stagecoach buses too.

But from October 27, they will be switching off the ability to buy any new ticket products on the travelcard.

Swindon Bus Company has reminded passengers they can travel using tap on and tap off services, contactless payment and mobile app tickets and says the app is one of the best ways for regular travellers to purchase tickets and offer them the chance to plan journeys, track buses in live times and favourite regular bus stops and journeys.

Earlier this month passengers slammed Swindon Bus Company’s decision to divert buses after 7pm so they no longer stop at the bus station, following complaints about people feeling unsafe and being harassed in the area after dark.
