Musicians and Swindonians “shuffled” around Old Town’s venues in the town’s oldest contemporary music festival.
The Swindon Shuffle showed off the best original music from the region in various pubs and venus - all for free - from Thursday, September 12 to Sunday 15.
The volunteer-led event that raised money for Prospect Hospice also included ‘fringe’ events with talks, DJs and exhibitions.
The festival said a joyous goodbye in the Beehive, a venue present since the Shuffle’s first year in 2007 hosting a band, the Shudders, who too have played so many times they have a festival anthem.
“Great venue, great band, great town”, was how one attendee described not only the event, but what it adds to Swindon by showing off the best of the town’s talent.
Other venues included The Victoria, the Castle, the Tuppeny, the Hop Inn, the Eternal Optimist, Baristocats.
In The Victoria, bands expressed as much thanks for being invited to play as the audience for being able to watch them.
It may not be their last time seeing them - but it will likely be the cheapest - as the festival boast a history boosting many artists onto the wider national scene.
It has not been revealed yet how much money was raised by the Shuffle, which was held in partnership with UK Research and Innovation
