Police in Bradford on Avon have issued a warning to people not to be taken in by courier fraudsters after a resident in Holt handed over £6,000 cash.

They said the resident had been told their help was needed with an investigation into an organised crime group in the London area after their credit card had been misused.

Police said: “The suspects have called a local resident posing to be police officers and advised them that their credit card had been misused in the London area and they were seeking help with investigating an organised crime group.

“Residents were told not to tell anyone of this investigation and were requested to withdraw a large sum of money in both sterling and euros.

“Couriers were then sent to the address to collect the money making no further contact with the resident.”

Police warned: “Your bank or the police will never ask you for your pin, bank card or ask you to withdraw money or buy items on their behalf.

“Do NOT share your pin with anyone.”
