A local company have donated replacement equipment to a football club affected by a suspected intentional fire.

A fire lit between two storage containers spread inside, causing thousands in damage to Swindon Supermarine Youth FC training and maintenance equipment on August 28.

Imagine Cruising, a Royal Wootton Basset holiday and cruise business, directly donated replacements.

“The donation Imagine Cruising have made, is fantastic,” Youth Section Chairman Matt Roberts said on receiving the equipment.

The donation includes corner flags, bibs, first aid kits, marker cones, agility poles, speed training hurdles, freekick mannequins and a replacement pitch line marker.

Imagine Cruising facilities manager, Clint Ricketts, said: “As soon as we heard about the loss of the equipment the arson had caused, Imagine Cruising wanted to get involved and help replenish the equipment lost in the fire.

“We wanted to help the coaches continue their great work and lessen the disruption caused during training sessions and games.

“There’s a great benefit provided by clubs such as the Swindon Supermarine Youth Section and as supporters of the senior team, Imagine Cruising wanted to do something to support the Youth Section too.”

Wiltshire Police have an active appeal for information, and the club is hoping to raise £10,000 via GoFundMe.
