Thames Water has issued an important update to Swindon residents after a pipe flooded the town centre.
A failed connection between a newly-installed pipe and the existing infrastructure under Fleming Way led to a large pool of water forming in part of the future bus boulevard.
The flooding has been contained to an area around the former underpass near The Parade and left people in the SN1 postcode with empty taps.
A Thames Water spokesperson said at 9am: "Our engineers are dealing with a burst pipe in Fleming Way.
"We’re sorry if you have low pressure or no water as a result.
"We’re planning how to stop the flow of water from the pipe. We’ll then focus on pinpointing the damaged section and how best to fix it.
"We aim to get the water back on within three hours of starting our repairs."
UPDATE: At 12pm, a spokesperson added: "Good news – we’ve now repaired the burst pipe and supplies are starting to return to the area.
"Please be aware that the water pressure is likely to take time to build in the local pipe network. As a result, it could take up to two hours for things to return to normal.
"We’re really sorry for the disruption this has caused."
